Grepcast is Ctrl+F for podcasts. Ask in plain language for "the part where they explain value for value payments" and it returns the exact moments across every indexed show, each with a one-line explanation of why it matches and a player cued to the exact second.

Built solo over a hackathon weekend for the Zerops Challenge, and kept running since.

How it works

  • Ingests transcripts creators already publish, via the Podcasting 2.0 transcript tag, plus captions for individually submitted videos.
  • Indexes meaning and keywords together. Transcripts are cut into overlapping windows and stored twice: as vectors for semantic search and in a keyword index for exact matches. Results from both are merged and reranked.
  • Deep-links, never hosts. Every result plays in the creator's own player, cued to the second. No media is copied, hosted or proxied.

Status

Live at grepcast.hamzabuilds.tech. A weekend build at heart, so the index covers the shows submitted so far rather than every podcast in existence.
