Chaos engineering tools break things on purpose to see whether your system survives. FireDrill asks a different question: when something broke, did your monitoring notice? An outage your alerts missed is a worse failure than the outage itself, because it will happen again silently.

Built for the WeMakeDevs and SigNoz "Agents of SigNoz" hackathon, on the AI and agent observability track.

How it works

  • Learns your system's shape from tracing data, so experiments target real dependencies rather than a hand-drawn diagram.
  • Injects a time-boxed fault and measures two things: what the fault did to the system, and whether an alert fired and how quickly.
  • Records observability gaps. A fault that caused visible damage with no alert is the finding. For each gap it proposes the missing alert, dashboard or watchdog.
  • Keeps a human in the loop. Proposed fixes are created only after someone approves them.

Status

A working hackathon build. The code is public on GitHub; there is no hosted demo yet, but a walkthrough is available on request.
